For some time now, Dr. Walt Mauldin, Executive Director for Smoky Mountain Children’s Home, has wanted our residents to participate in a Community Service Project. Thursday, February 23, we had the privilege to see this dream become a reality through the help of Mr. Dick Wellons and SMARM (Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries).
SMARM delivered a pallet of used shoes to the warehouse area, where five of our young men under the direction of Jonathan Chandler, SMCH Treatment Team Assistant, matched and bundled the pallet of used shoes. While we cannot share photos of the young men working, we can report they were able to complete the task within 55 minutes.
We are excited to see our youth from the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home participate in a neighborly effort to assist with a much needed project for SMARM. Within the next couple of weeks, they will have the privilege to tackle the other nine pallets of shoes needing the same attention!
